Teach Me held a mosaics day at Ashdown Junior School in Crowborough, East Sussex, on Wednesday 15 February. Twenty children took part and they learned the origins of mosaic tiling before getting hands on with a variety of projects.

The children made mosaic coasters, mosaic plant pot stands and also worked on a large mosaic portraying the schools logo that will be installed in the school playground.

The day qualified for points for the Children’s University that rewards extra-currcicular activities and leads to a graduation at a Sussex university.

Parenst were delighted with the day and its outcomes. One wrote:

“Dear Mr Pinard, just wanted to drop you a quick email to thank you for the Mosaic Madness workshop which was run today at the school. Amelia and Daniel both had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the tasks which they were set. They took great pride in showing us their work and explaining the designs and method.

“We really appreciate that the school put on this event during half term.  It was a great opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed by both children.  Hopefully there will be other events in the future as we would definitely like to support them”.
