Teach me shabby chic courses bring out the artist in you if you have never worked this medium before. If you are more experienced, we’ll help you develop style and techniques to improve your work.

Learn to shabby chic furniture in a day in a friendly environment. Classes are small so that you are able to work at your own pace and receive help as you progress to complete your masterpiece! You will learn about  Chalk paint, how this can be applied over numerous surfaces with little or no preparation.  Transform a piece of furniture (either your own or a piece we can provide).  You will learn the different finishes that can be achieved using wax, stencils or decoupage.

You will see the different products on the market and also how to make your own chalk paint.


  • 9.30 – Chalk paint….what is it and why does it apply itself so well to so many projects. What is available on the market, waxes and finishes.
  • 10.00 – Selecting your piece of furniture, consider how you want to transform it using paint, decoupage or stencilling. How to Make your own chalk paint – use what you have sitting in the shed for future projects.
  • 1.00 – Practice first to try out different techniques and finishes on surplus wood/items provided, cut out or print any papers or templates ready for use on your project.
  • 12.00 – Lunch –  Buffet lunch & soft drink
  • 12.30 – Now you are ready to start creating your own masterpiece, proceed onto your chosen item once  you feel confident with the results from your practice piece.  Help is at hand with any tricky pieces or to offer guidance as you get started.
  • 2.00 – 2.10 – Time for tea – short break to re charge and get a sugar rush with a nice cup of tea and biscuits, maybe even some home made cake!
  • 3.15 – wax on….wax off….how to finish your project to get a great hard wearing finish.
  • 4.00 – Clean up and prepare for the final photograph with your masterpiece


We are situated in New Romney within easy walking distance of the village.  Locally there are some excellent restaurants, the beach is appox 30 minutes walk – door to shore!  The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is also within walking distance for you to be able to take an excursion if you want to extend your stay prior or after the course.  Rye, Hastings and Canterbury are a short drive away and often have many local festivals or activities taking place.

We have a comfortable self contained annex – Seaside Cabin with double bed and bunk beds. There is a kitchen, shower and separate toilet. Continental breakfast is included whilst attending the course.
