Craft, Heritage and History at St. Nicholas’ Church

Creative workshops supported by the Historic Churches Trust

This August, step inside the extraordinary St. Nicholas’ Church in New Romney and enjoy a day of creativity, community, and discovery — all in one of the most iconic churches on the Romney Marsh.

Thanks to support from the Historic Churches Trust, we’re excited to invite you to a series of hands-on Church & Craft Workshops, run by professional artists from Teach Me Studios.

Whether you’re keen to explore a new craft or simply soak in the surroundings, these relaxed, friendly workshops offer something for everyone — with sessions suitable for both adults and children.


✧ What’s On

🕤 9:30am–11:30am
🕛 12:00pm–2:00pm
Gargoyles or Mosaics
Design and make your own clay gargoyle ornament or a colourful tile mosaic, inspired by the centuries-old stonework and stained glass of the church.

These morning and lunchtime sessions are suitable for adults and children.

🕝 2:30pm–4:30pm
Felt Sheep or Printmaking
In the afternoon, enjoy a grown-up creative session making a felt Romney Marsh sheep or crafting your own Lino & Block Print, drawing inspiration from the history and beauty of St. Nicholas’.

Drinks and biscuits included
Optional short church tour (approx. 15 minutes) at 11:40am or 2:10pm, offering a glimpse into the church’s remarkable past
