Despite the challenging weather, the New Romney Obelisk (Town Identifier) was officially unveiled today by Mayor John Rivers. Over 400 participants contributed to this remarkable project, including local schools, cub groups, public workshop attendees, and finished by the talented team from Teach Me Courses. The metal structure was masterfully completed by blacksmith Sam Briggs, creating a visually stunning historical monument that celebrates the town’s heritage. Located opposite St Nicolas’s Church, the obelisk is a symbol for both visitors and townsfolk to admire. Make sure to come and see this impressive addition to New Romney!
