Settle in for a colourful watercolour session with guest artist Sam Scott, creating a vibrant mackerel painting full of colour, texture and those beautiful striped markings that make this fish such a brilliant subject.
You’ll be guided every step of the way through deep blues, sea greens, silvery highlights, flashes of violet and those distinctive striped markings, building them up into a vibrant watercolour full of movement and character.
Along the way, you’ll explore how watercolour can be used to create soft blends, stronger contrasts, texture and depth, while keeping the finished piece expressive rather than overly tight or technical.
There’s no pressure to make every brushstroke perfect. The joy of this workshop is in watching the colours build, the markings emerge and the fish gradually come to life on the page.
Whether you’re brand new to watercolour or already enjoy painting, you’ll have plenty of support throughout and time to work at your own pace. Sam has a lovely teaching style that gives you clear guidance while still leaving plenty of freedom to experiment, explore the colours and make the painting your own.
Spend a few hours immersed in colour, learning watercolour techniques and creating a striking aquatic artwork to take home.
