Meadow or seascape? Bold and colourful or beautifully delicate? Or perhaps you have an idea of your own that you’ve been waiting to bring to life in glass.
This half-day fused glass workshop is all about choice, colour and creativity. Choose a flower meadow, create your own seascape, or go completely freestyle – then dive into a gorgeous selection of coloured glass, frits, stringers and decorative elements and start bringing your design to life.
During the session, you can choose what you’d like to create, with options including two coasters, a tealight holder and coaster, or a tealight holder and/or hanging decoration.
Create a meadow scattered with delicate wildflowers or bursting with bold colour. Build a coastal scene with rolling waves, sweeping skies and shimmering details. Or forget the themes altogether and create something abstract, contemporary, quirky or completely personal to you.
Part of the fun is exploring the glass itself. You’ll discover how different colours work together, how frits and stringers can be used to add fine detail, and how layering and texture can completely transform a design. There’s plenty to experiment with and no expectation that everyone around the table will create the same thing.
Your tutor will show you how to cut, shape and layer the glass and help you get the effects you’re looking for, so no previous experience is needed. There’s guidance whenever you need it, but plenty of creative freedom too.
Once your designs are complete, they’ll be kiln-fired and finished for you. During firing, the individual pieces soften and fuse together, transforming your work into beautifully finished glass creations ready to collect and enjoy at home.
